Any investment in business can be crucial. Careful decision making is required, making the prospect of dropping a shed-load of cash on Google Ads pretty frightening! But it doesn’t have to be.
In this guide I’ll cover what Google Ads is & 3 things you should consider before jumping in and starting up some ads.
What is Google Ads?
Google Ads is the ad service that allows you to rank higher on Google’s search engine & generate traffic. It’s essentially a way to beat the rankings of the leading companies by paying to get there, whilst using a pay-per-click model.
3 things to think about before your start:
Your budget should be predetermined. In the fast-paced world of Google ads, it’s very easy to overspend and be left wondering what you actually got in return. You should also monitor your campaigns daily, keeping an eye on incoming leads & the rate of your spend. Failure to do this could leave you very poor & Google that bit richer…(We don’t want that)
Do Your Research.
Like any investment, Google Ads requires learning, whether you’re managing it yourself or paying someone to do it for you. Once you are familiar with the basics and over the initial learning hump, it can be a powerful tool.
There are a variety of informative articles that go further into the ins and outs of how to use Google Ads. Before you proceed, take a week out and digest a few from different sources. It’ll be time well spent.
A good starting point would be this video from Google themselves:

Keep It Simple.
When starting out, don’t get bogged with setting up multiple campaigns at once. Start with one & test through trial and error. Keep the goal of your campaign clear & make sure your tracking all of your results!
This isn’t intended to be a technical how-to. There are endless articles that will help you get your head around Google Ads. This is just a heads-up of some sense-checks you should carry out before proceeding.
